About me…

Since I’m planning on printing my blog, and I won’t be printing out ‘notes’ on Facebook – I figured I’d transfer a couple of them here… About a month ago, I was ‘tagged’ to write “16 random things about me” and then this past week, I was ‘tagged’ by 4 different people to write “25 random things about me”. I haven’t done the ’25 things’ one yet, but here is the other one:

16 random things about me, December 29, 2008…

1. I have a hard time staying out of it when I see someone is being treated unfairly. I bite my tongue and clinch my fists sometimes to keep quiet… and pray… a lot. (because it’s not always best to jump in and speak up in someone else’s business)
2. I enjoy doing our taxes each year. What can I say? I’m a nerd.
3. 5 out of my 6 children were planned. The only one that wasn’t was the one that was conceived when I was 16 – obviously that one was NOT planned – ha. Most people think we are insane or that we aren’t careful enough – when I tell them we WANTED this many kids they don’t quite know what to say.
4. I am a compulsive neat freak. I notice every speck of dust and every mark on the wall… but alas, five kids, some health issues, and a couple of rough pregnancies have all taught me MUCH patience – and to put on my blinders. I keep chanting to myself “my house will be spotless when the kids get older” over and over – it keeps me going.
5. I would love to live someplace that was warm most of the time, and near a beautiful beach.
6. I have moved 36 times in my life. Or is it 35? 37? I think I have lost count… (p.s. I’m only 32, so the moves outnumber my age)
7. I love to read, but don’t get the chance nearly as much as I’d like. Because I like it quiet and I don’t like to put a novel down once I start it, I tend to just not pick the books up in the first place… since my 2nd child hit about age 2. I have read more in the last year than I had in the previous 10 years, but still – not enough for my taste.

8. I LOVE movies. But I’m not the typical every-movie-must-be-a-make-me-cry-chick-flick kind of gal. My favorite movies are spy flicks and superhero movies. I do enjoy a good chick flick, but my taste in them doesn’t seem to run along the same lines as most other women my age. I also like a good comedy, but those seem to be few and far between. I like true stories too… and a good action flick (if it also has good acting and directing)… and… okay, I like a wide variety. I don’t stick to one particular genre.

9. When I was young (teenager-ish?), I figured I’d get married at 23 and have two kids – twins – a boy and a girl at 25. And that would be it. Ha. hahaha…

10. I grew up in a legalistic fundamentalist world. I don’t agree with that world now. I believe in a personal relationship with a loving, merciful, gracious God who looks at the state of my heart… not whether or not my music has a beat. (obviously that one could be much further expounded upon – lol)
11. Up until about 4 or 5 years ago, I didn’t know that one could be as happy and content as I am, or have as wonderful of a marriage as I currently have. I had never seen it (or been aware of it in the people that I was around).
12. I really like having teenagers. I always heard “just wait until they hit the teenage years” – ummmm… I’m here… what was I supposed to be waiting for? I realize I have a few years left before the first one is gone, and more than 18 years left before the last one is gone – but if it’s still going well by that point – I’ll write a book on parenting.
13. I have my best thoughts as I’m falling asleep. I keep telling myself to put a notebook by my bed, but I never do. The thoughts are usually gone by morning.
14. I love being a mom, wife, homemaker… it’s what I was meant to do. It completely fulfills me.
15. My favorite meal out right now is a steak or chicken naked burrito at Qdoba.
16. I can be really really sociable or a complete loner… either way… whatever. I’m easy to please.

I’m about to go try to write the ’25 things about me’ note on Facebook – I’ll post it here too if I think of it later.
