Today, part 2

After lunch, we had a kitten photo shoot (I had promised Jacob and Paige earlier). It did not go great as far as the photography was concerned (have you ever tried to wrangle 7 kittens into looking anywhere near a camera?), but the kiddos loved it, so I count it a success!

Then, of course, Vega knew I wanted to continue getting some chores done, so she demanded to be fed.

We finally got a chance to do some schoolwork during Vega’s afternoon nap! Paige was super excited to start learning how to draw her letters. I’m so glad she seems happy to learn! That makes my job much easier!!

The three biggest kids (who live at home) have been doing a larger-than-normal chore load since about mid-pregnancy with Vega. I’ve gradually been taking back over some things, but today is my first day back at it full force. So I was cleaning the kitchen, well, I *planned* on doing dishes and wiping down counters, but… the kids have been cleaning the kitchen for the last 6 or 8 months. So I wasn’t able to just put the clean dishes in the completely unorganized and disgusting cabinets! So I now have a few organized drawers and cabinets, but there are not enough hours in my day to get that kitchen back to the way it should be. So I’ll be taking it a cabinet at a time.

Vega interrupts my day a lot. Jacob and Paige do their best to entertain her here and there, but that only gives me a few extra minutes.

The Darbster arrived home (she walked home) with nothing but rave reviews of her teachers, her classes, her lunchroom, and her best friends (yes, it just takes her one day to have BFF’s). Also, she told all her teachers that she is going by her middle name, Aliya. She’s been trying to make that switch for a few years, so if you hear us referring to Aliya, we are talking about Darby.

Justice and Jarvis made it home on the bus, thank goodness, and they both liked (mostly) their classes as well. There are no after school photos of them, though, because I didn’t have them trapped in a car like I did this morning. They both love ROTC, and have at least one other class they like (they have block classes at this school so they only have 4 classes per semester).

Sample conversation:
Justice- I do NOT like my English teacher!
Me- She seemed so bubbly and nice at the open house!
Justice- That was an act!! Because she is all {roars like a dinosaur}.

(He does like the actual class and subject matter – American Literature – so he’s overlooking his teacher’s personality for now. lol)

I have to do this x’s 3 tonight:

Well, I just had a shower (finally), and got dressed, and then Vega peed all over me. So, I’m in outfit number 2, ready to fill out loads of paperwork and wolf down a quick “meal” (can you call hot dogs a meal?), so I can head to a photoshoot and pick up a few groceries…. [stay tuned for part three of this magical day] ;)

I can’t imagine having to fill out 3 sets of forms. Of course I am waiting for Chad to hand me a stack of them right before I go to bed.

Lol – my 4th grade year I wanted to go by my middle name Beth – it was a disaster, I kept forgetting who they were calling when they said ‘Beth’

    I personally LOVE the name Aliya/Alia!!!! :)
