Randomness…

  • I love the internet. I used to be so clueless, but now I can research anything I want anytime I want. It’s pretty amazing.  Thank you Al Gore!
  • Paige hates to wear socks and/or shoes. She is always barefoot when I go to take her out of her carseat and I have to reclothe her feet before she can get out of the car (is it summer yet?!). That being said, she is fascinated with Barbie and Polly Pocket shoes… this photo of her messing with Barbie’s shoe was taken on January 2nd…
  • I finally got a label  maker! I’m so excited!! My old one has been broken for a long, long time, and there are many things in my house that need labels. Medicine cabinet (er, door – my medicine/vitamins/first aid stuff is in a shoe organizer on the inside of my pantry door) and linen closet – here I come!!!
  • I haven’t worked out in like three weeks – first, I ate some food that disagreed with me, then I went to Arkansas, then I got two kinds of the flu (stomach first, then the achy/stuffy nose/sore throat), then I came down with mastitis that knocked me for a loop.  I’m finally feeling a bit better from the antibiotics and hope to start working out again… hopefully that prolonged break didn’t completely eliminate any progress I had made!!!
  • Last night we went to Cary and hit Qdoba, Trader Joe’s, Border’s, and a used book store.  Oh, and Harris Teeter.  I drove so Andy could study his Russian vocab in the car on the way there and back.
  • Today I gotta hit Wally World (not my favorite place, but the prices can’t be beat) and Walgreens. Ah, errands.
  • This photo portrays a typical day in my life:

A cat getting in the way, a random  Wii Nunchuck, the baby monitor on, Russian labels on the lamp… A peek into my life. lol
  • Speaking of Russian, my coffee table has been looking like this a lot lately:
  • I didn’t get many photos from the last snow day (a few days ago), but I got some photos from the previous winter wonderland (January 30th) - actually, Jarvis and Britta took some of these photos too – I edited them in photoshop though. I love photoshop. Love.

  • I have kind of a funny story to tell – I’ll save that for the next post though. It’s a good’un. ;)
  • I’m pretty sure I need to start petitions to get Starbucks, Target, Panera, and Qdoba to open stores in Sanford. I’m just saying.
  • That’s all I have for you right now. Tune in at six for an update (or, uh, tomorrow).

Hmmm… three days… I’m not doing so well with the whole blogging everyday thing. I’m trying though. :)

The kids and I are getting ready to go shopping. Funny thing about kids – they get taller and their feet grow. So we are off to find shoes and pants.

Andrew is on his way to D.C. for a two day class.

Andrea and Adam are home with Gideon. I can’t wait to meet him in person… I wish they didn’t live so far away.

The kids have been enjoying the southern wildlife!
They found this ringneck snake when Andy & the boys were redoing our front landscaping.

There is a wide variety of lizards around our house.
Sometimes they scare me when they go darting past me on the porch. :-P

And a giant wolf spider in our back yard…fun stuff!

Birds of a feather…

As all my early readers know, I’m scared of birds… mostly just of them touching or pecking me. I don’t mind viewing them through glass. Except for doves… doves give me the heebie-jeebies no matter what they are doing.

When we moved here, we had/have a great view out our back windows… the deck, trees, nature…we wanted to set up some bird feeders. Andy has always been an avid birdwatcher, so he was more than happy to get it all set up. We have four feeders currently hanging from our deck, and they are full of non-stop feeding activity.

So far,we have been visited by many cardinals, various types of sparrows, and chickadees. Several varieties of woodpeckers (red-bellied, flicker, downy, and red-cockaded) come see us, and we also get white-breasted nuthatches, wrens, bluejays, house finches, tufted titmice, ruby-throated hummingbirds, and… a few creepy doves.

I love watching them while I’m sitting on the couch or standing at the kitchen sink.Who knew birdwatching could be so much fun?!

I have even managed to get a few of them on film… errrr… not “film”, since my camera is digital, but you know what I mean… And all the photos are taken from the safety of my dining room. :)
